LOTUS THRONE

The world over, we see Buddha, Mahavira, Gods and Goddesses seated on lotus thrones.

In Melmaruvathur also, the Goddess Adhiparasakthi in the sanctum (Karuvarai in Tamil) is seated on a lotus throne (Peetam in Tamil).

To understand this, we can bring to mind the third verse of the Thirukkural.

“One who surrenders at the feet of God seated on the heart lotus attains bliss”

Let us bow in worship to Mother Goddess seated on the lotus in the sanctum in our hearts.
